Masjid Bandaraya / Exploring Kota Kinabalu

It was our second day in Kota Kinabalu when we visited Masjid Bandaraya right after visiting a Chinese Temple nearby called Puh Toh Tze.

We took a 15 minute walk fro Puh Toh Tze going to Masjid Bandaraya which is the biggest mosque in Kota Kinabalu and is also known as the “floating mosque”.  It is the second main mosque in Kota Kinabalu.

We took some pictures outside the mosque and never thought that we can also get inside, we went to a store beside the mosque and met a Filipino store owner ate Anisha to whom we rented a Muslim suit.

You are allowed to take pictures inside but non-muslims are not allowed to step on a particular area. It is not advisable to visit the mosque during prayer day Friday since you will not be allowed to enter.

Masjid Bandaraya can be reached by riding a bus for about RM1.50 from Padang Merdeka near Dreamtel Hotel or you can just simply book an Uber ride or a taxi which is more expensive.
